Confrontation of viewer with meeting Liam's gaze good connection with the mother's fear motif. He eyes demand protection. Has the same power that nursery ryhmes do, childs world piling into the sometimes nasty facts of our adult reality. That being represented by the text and faded quality of Liam's portait.
2 questions, who/what will be the center, because that will anchor the piece,
and are are the 3 pieces the same size/shape? I couldn't tell. If they are same size/shape, you might want to look at old alter triptychs (you may have already) for some ideas on combining the 3 pieces.
Again, 3 children/3 pieces. I know you will want to give them equal importance. That will be difficult because the center piece will automatically carry the weight of the audiences preconcieved notion that it is the most important.
Lisa, you are definitely getting the meaning behind the piece. I still have to finish the work... Liam is still very transparent. I don't want to overwork it but I do want some more solid areas.
The questions are good... the two side pieces are equal size...one for Liam & one for Helena. The central piece is actually going to be the "Madonna & Child" image of Ada & me. I do want this one to have slightly more weight because I am considering having my kids drawings as the background "text" component for this one. The fear component for this one would be that the kids forget their innocent beginnings...home & mother.
